The Mullet Shirt?
Should we call this the Mullet Shirt? Business in the the front party in the back?
Despite the pun, with my white shirt look for today I focused on balance — the balance of business and casual, polished and distressed, covered and exposed.
In my NYFW street style post, I lamented that much of the publicized fashion we see today is all about EXCESS — it’s time to think about balance. Simplicity with a little surprise is key!
I recently wore this look to a meeting and added a blazer with leather accents on the lapel and cuff. This shirt gives you a classic and put together look (from the front) and with the jacket, no one will be the wiser of your after-work plans!
If you do work in a more “expressive” environment, be brave! Go sans jacket — just wear a high waisted skirt or culottes so only a sliver of skin is exposed. With the crop top trend being so prominent, this little peak-a-boo won’t be too eyebrow raising.
Don’t forget to add a few accessories and a polished shoe to balance the casual look of the torn up pants.
