My Happily Ever After

GREETINGTwo years ago on August 18th, I married the love of my life at my childhood home in the Willamette Valley. It was important to have our Pacific Northwest rustic roots present in our nuptials along with our love of family and friends woven into the wedding. Truly a DIY wedding, from the decorations and flowers and even the wedding cake we recruited love ones to contribute their creativity and expertise and to be a part of our special day. Our wedding was truly magical thanks to all their help! I had always dreamed of saying my vows amidst the my family’s tree farm, and it was a perfect intimate setting to share with our guests.

CEREMONYWhen planning the colors for the wedding, we wanted the bridal party to be in soft pastels to blend with the softness of the summer light and the natural surroundings. We were able to get a steal on the bridesmaids dresses, and I really recommend searching for dress through the Nordstrom Wedding Suite. Most bridesmaids will not frequently wear their dress again, so who wants to spend over $100 on it! We had originally planned on letting each bridesmaid pick out their own dress in a matching pastel tone, but for many busy friends, this can end of being more of a hassle than a convenience.

Textural beauty was important for me in the design of my dress and I also knew that I wanted a gown that was not strapless so I could dance the night away without a care! When the party really got started, I changed into an easy flowing BCBG maxi dress in silk crinkle chiffon — since I wasn’t worried about getting the dress dirty I was able to cuddle up next to our fire pit with my hubby and we even roasted a s’more.
